Sonoma County Tourism Launches New Mobile App

Sonoma County Tourism has put the power of travel into visitor’s hands by introducing a new, comprehensive, highly interactive, and easy-to-use visitor experience mobile application.

SANTA ROSA, CA (November 29, 2022) Sonoma County Tourism has unveiled the Sonoma County App, a new application that showcases Sonoma County while creating an engaging and intuitive way for visitors to research, plan, and experience their visit to the destination. The App provides users with an elegant, one-tap mobile device solution for planning, coordinating, and booking Sonoma County experiences.

A recent survey concluded that visitors seek richer narrative-based travel experiences with 65% stating they prefer travel that tells a story and creates lasting memories. Also, 73% of survey respondents indicated they want help coordinating their visit, with 73% unsure of what activities to book during their trip. The new Sonoma County App smartly addresses these issues. Users who download the Sonoma County App (Android and iOS) have access to real-time, location-based options for what to see, do, eat, drink and more, along with interactive maps, photos, and detailed descriptions. Category filters allow users to narrow down suggestions by their mood (i.e., wine tasting, dining, spa, shopping, etc.) and specific location categories (i.e., outdoors, experiences, events, and more). If users notice or hear of a business they want to visit before or during their trip, they can find it in the app, add it to their travel plan and build a custom itinerary.

If users are aware of events they don’t want to miss, simply click “Join” and the event will be added to their travel plan. That Sonoma County winery or restaurant they’ve been hearing about? Click “Add to Plan” and they won’t forget to try it. Want to invite friends? Share the plan with them directly through social media, email, or via text. No need to waste another sheet of paper – planning is now digital with the Sonoma County App. The App utilizes cross-platform software, meaning users can start planning their visit on a computer or tablet and see their experiences on their mobile device.

The Sonoma County App also provides incentives for traveling responsibly. The App empowers users to work towards goals and challenges to unlock status badges and rewards. “Sonoma County App users can play along with friends and family to see who is a Sonoma County Travel Pro along with chances to win some cool experiences and rewards.” said Sonoma County Tourism’s Director of Brand Marketing, Frank Filice.

The App was developed by Visit Widget, who, like Sonoma County Tourism, believe the process of planning a trip can be just as much a part of the anticipation, or experience as actually being on the trip itself.

“We created the Sonoma County App to be as useful and informative for locals as it is to first-time or regular visitors” said Todd O’Leary, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Sonoma County Tourism. “Our destination has an endless number of unique businesses and activities to discover, so we’ve developed this App as the go-to resource for everyone.”

The free Sonoma County App is available for download now on Google Play or in the Apple App Store. For more information visit the Sonoma County App page on the Sonoma County Tourism website
