Holiday greetings – Message from our Director Marina Ponti

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

2022 was another challenging year for all of us, leading to more war, injustice and climate devastation. However, we have faced these challenges in solidarity and showed that the power is in our hands to make a change if we #FlipTheScript and take action on climate, justice, and peace – the issues at the heart of this year’s Global Week to #Act4SDGs. Collectively, we are a massive force that can bring transformative change and reach a better future.

As the year comes to a close, let me share my deepest thanks for your engagement, commitment, and dedication to take action for the SDGs. It was very inspiring to see organizations, institutions and individuals stepping up to promote a just, green recovery, and to create more peaceful and sustainable societies.

As we look ahead to 2023, we are still hopeful that change is possible and that we can take back our future. At the UN SDG Action Campaign, we will continue to encourage participation, ownership and engagement at key SDG-related processes while inspiring individuals, communities and institutions to take action and shift behaviors throughout the year and during the Global Week to #Act4SDGs.

We look forward to continuing working with you in the lead-up to the SDG Summit in September taking place at the midpoint of the 2030 Agenda, and at other milestones like the LDC5 conference in Doha, Qatar in March and COP28 in Dubai, UAE in November.

Last but not least, I am proud to share below some highlights of what we have achieved together – none of which would have been possible without the devotion, passion, and professionalism of my UN SDG Action Campaign team.

I wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2023 filled with optimism, activism and resilience. The Sustainable Development Goals are my hope for the future, and I hope we can make them a reality together.

Happy Holidays!
Marina Ponti
